Dr. Childers is board-certified in General Surgery, and Cardiothoracic Surgery, with advanced certificates in both FSM and ozone therapy and a special interest is using non-surgical treatments to stimulate healing.
He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, completed his surgery residency at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a senior clinical associate in surgery at Cornell University Medical College and served as chief resident in the Department of Surgery at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He has also practiced cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Division of Cadiothoracic Surgery.
As Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Southern Ohio Medical Center Dr. Childers oversaw the opening of the open-heart surgery department, while introducing minimally invasive procedures that reduced both pain and recovery time. He continued investigation of minimally invasive procedures to combine the best of conventional and holistic medicine.
Dr. Childers diagnoses the root cause of patients’ medical conditions to support a return to health and prevent onset of disease. He provides comprehensive care and treatment to his patients to restore the mind, body, and spirit. He is a specialist in alternative therapies for the treatment of Lyme Disease and is one of the only Lyme Literate medical doctors (LLMD) in the region and lectures nationally on the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme Disease based illnesses. He is a fellow in the American Academy of Ozone Therapy and is co-investigator on the Health and Human Services Institutional Review Board Ozone efficacy research study.
